    Allison McVey, a 2008 graduate of Harrison County High School, graduated from the University of Kentucky on Sunday, May 6, 2012 with a B.A. in International Studies and History, Summa Cum Laude and with Honors.
    McVey received Departmental Honors in History and Departmental Honors in International Studies.
    She is the daughter of Randy and Carol McVey, and will be moving to Nashville, Tenn. for two years with Teach for America.

  • HMH ranked 10th in Best Places to Work in Kentucky

    Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) was recognized and honored at the Best Places to Work in Kentucky Eighth annual Awards Dinner on April 19 at the Galt House in Louisville, Ky. The final rankings were announced at the event, and HMH ranked number 10 out of 37 in the large business category section.
    “This award is a wonderful honor for HMH,” says Dr. Frank McKemie, Chairman of HMH Board of Directors. “It is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of all our hospital employees.”

    Town and Village School of Dance’s honor company and apprentices had another successful competition season.  
    The honor company is comprised of Town and Village students who are chosen each year through an audition process and faculty evaluation.  
    Apprentices are younger dancers, chosen in the same manner, who are beginning to learn about being in honor company.

    Cleaning out my email this morning I found one I had written to a friend.
    It started out: “So it was a nice, calm day at work yesterday. By the afternoon I was sitting at my desk thinking, ‘Hooray!’
    “It just felt like a good day to say, ‘Hooray!’ I even posted it as my Facebook status. Hooray!”
    I went on to write about how my phone rang and it was my husband: “I didn’t do it. It’s not my fault,” he said, which is never a good sign.

    GEORGETOWN CHURCH
    OF GOD
    Georgetown Church of God will be hosting a benefit singing on Saturday, May 19 at 10 a.m. There will be various local groups ministering each hour throughout the day.
    The church is located at 121 Spring Court, Georgetown (next door to the Vu Tech factory on the bypass). In case of rain the event will be at 124 Gano Ave., Georgetown.

    Sunday, May 13 services at Hour of Deliverance Chapel have been cancelled for Mother’s Day.
    The church is located on Second Street.
