Case reports

Dec. 9 – At 8:40 p.m., Rachel M. Thompson, Hillside Drive, reported that while she was at her boyfriend’s house, someone entered her apartment and took $21 in rolled pennies, her Social Security card and a blank check.

Dec. 9 – At 10:48 p.m., police were called to Harrison Memorial Hospital where an individual was intoxicated. The subject left the scene on foot after crashing a car into an embankment. He was found at Hillside Drive, arrested and charged with DUI and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

This December has been a cold one thus far. I don’t mind a gloomy day here or there, I actually find them some what restorative. Too many in a row, though, can be sort of depressing. 

We all say we want winter interest, but sometimes we forget about it once spring rolls around and we get excited about a new season. Have you selected things that will capture your eye in January? 

A’shaelyn Blaine Veandric Cummins

A’shaelyn Blaine Veandric Cummins was born to Stormi Cummins and Jonathan ‘Bud’ Mackey on Nov. 14, 2008 at Georgetown Community Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs. 4.5 oz.

Maternal grandparents are Vesta Cummins and the late Blaine Cummins; maternal great-grandparents are Rose Stone and Amos Penney, and the late Artie Custard and the late William Cummins.

Paternal grandmother is Erica Mackey; paternal great-grandparents are Mattie Mackey and the Rev. Earl Mackey.

Two Nicholas County men are under arrest after a series  of alleged unlawful activities early Saturday morning.

Paul Douglas Jolly, 46, and Doug Hunt, 32, remain in the Montgomery County Detention Center on charges of theft by unlawful taking of a vehicle. The stolen vehicle was dumped into the Licking River in Harrison County at A. Keller.

Jolly and Hunt were in close proximity of the Nicholas County Fire Department around 3:30 a.m. when firefighters were called to a house fire in the county.
