  • World Trade Center artifact arrives in Cynthiana

    Through the efforts of the Harrison County Fire Protection District, Harrison County has a piece of the World Trade Center that was destroyed on Sept. 11, 2001, in a terrorist attack on the United States.
    The temporary display will be at the old courthouse Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. A permanent location is being sought for the exhibit. Anyone with ideas for that site should submit a written suggestion to the Fire Protection District, P.O. Box 811, Cynthiana, KY, 41031, by July 8 at 4:30 p.m.

  • Howard makes hole in one at CCC

    Golfer Ryan Howard shot his first hole in one at the Cynthiana Country Club Thursday afternoon.
    Howard, 21, finished his 9-hole round with a 34 after acing hole 8.
    He made the 150-yard shot with a nine iron.
    “At first I thought naw that didn’t go in and then when I saw it in the hole I just started shaking,” Howard said.
    His witness on the Par 3 shot was fellow golfer Jason Works.

  • Scholarship and photo shoot

    Juniors at Kentucky’s public and private high schools may enter to win a $500 scholarship and a photo shoot at his or her school through the “Promote Your School” scholarship contest, sponsored by the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA).
