  • Duckworths observe 50th anniversary with a Caribbean cruise

    Ernest “Cutty” and Charlotte (Laytart) Duckworth observed their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 26. The Duckworths were married on Oct. 26, 1963 by Bro. Lovell Sorrell at First Church of God in Cynthiana with best man, Harold Light Duckworth, brother of groom and maid of honor, Ann Roberts, sister of bride.

  • Harrison team finishes 5th out of 40

    Harrison County team placed fifth out of 40 teams in the County Community Tournament.   • State Fire Marshal: ‘Change the batteries’ during Nov. 2 time change, brush up on winter-time fire prevention tips

    The Kentucky State Fire Marshal is reminding Kentuckians of two things this upcoming weekend: When you change your clocks back to standard time, change the batteries in each of your home’s smoke alarms; and, ensure that your home heating appliances are in safe working order.

    Youth basketball tryouts

    Harrison County Youth Basketball is having open tryouts for this year’s travel teams.

    Tournament games will be played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from December through March.

    As I sit here on Tuesday it doesn’t look particularly good for my Cardinals, which probably makes many of you happy. 

    Never have so many Reds fans taken up with an American League team like they have with the Red Sox or at least as they express themselves to me. 

  • Campbell Co. blanks Fillies, Brossart wins Tenth Region title

    The Harrison County Fillies drew a bye in the 10th Region Tournament and played Campbell County in the semi final round last Wednesday.  

    The Lady Camels were dominant from the start and, though the Harrison County team played hard from start to finish, the Campbell County girls won 5-0.  

  • HCHS cross country closes regular season

    On Thursday, the Harrison County cross country teams hosted the Harrison County Invitational at the Cynthiana Country Club.  

    The meet was a rousing success, according to Coach Danny Simpson, despite a cold, windy, sleet-filled afternoon.  

  • Brossart wins 10th Region soccer, eliminates Breds 5-1 in semi finals

    Thursday night’s semi final match between the soccer boys of Harrison County and their counterparts from Bishop Brossart was played in less than ideal conditions.
