    Youth basketball tryouts

    Harrison County Youth Basketball is having open tryouts for this year’s travel teams.

    Tournament games will be played on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from December through March.

    As I sit here on Tuesday it doesn’t look particularly good for my Cardinals, which probably makes many of you happy. 

    Never have so many Reds fans taken up with an American League team like they have with the Red Sox or at least as they express themselves to me. 

  • Campbell Co. blanks Fillies, Brossart wins Tenth Region title

    The Harrison County Fillies drew a bye in the 10th Region Tournament and played Campbell County in the semi final round last Wednesday.  

    The Lady Camels were dominant from the start and, though the Harrison County team played hard from start to finish, the Campbell County girls won 5-0.  

  • HCHS cross country closes regular season

    On Thursday, the Harrison County cross country teams hosted the Harrison County Invitational at the Cynthiana Country Club.  

    The meet was a rousing success, according to Coach Danny Simpson, despite a cold, windy, sleet-filled afternoon.  

  • Brossart wins 10th Region soccer, eliminates Breds 5-1 in semi finals

    Thursday night’s semi final match between the soccer boys of Harrison County and their counterparts from Bishop Brossart was played in less than ideal conditions.  

  • Freshman defeat Bracken County 26-0 in season finale

    The Harrison County freshman football team completed its official season undefeated last week at 7-0 but added another feather to its cap Monday night with a 26-0 win over a combined freshman/sophomore team at Bracken County. 

    The win ends the season at 8-0 which pleased Coach Adam Tolle. 

  • Fillies win volleyball district, defeat GRC in region quarterfinals

    The Harrison County Fillies defeated Nicholas County Wednesday night at Robertson County to advance to the 10th Region Tournament. 

    The win gave the Fillies a 27-9 season record heading into Monday’s quarterfinal game with George Rogers Clark at Montgomery County.

    I cannot allow the Halloween edition of this paper to pass without raising the alarm about something truly terrifying. As a horror movie fan, I am familiar with many of the things that fill us with revulsion, feed our nightmares and quite possibly originate from paid government scientists playing in God’s domain.
    I had no idea what that terrible thing was until I arrived home last Monday night.
