  • Profile of an assistant

    This week’s profile is the No. 1 wrestling assistant Luke Tucker.  
    Luke is a 2001 graduate of Harrison County High School where he ran track, played soccer and wrestled. He was a four-year varsity wrestler for current coach Russ Riegel.  
    While wrestling for Harrison County, Tucker qualified for the Century Club, which is for wrestlers who have 100 varsity wins. He finished his high school career with 143 victories.  

  • Second quarter dooms Fillies at Bracken County Wednesday

    The Harrison County Fillies traveled to Brooksville and lost their battle with the Polar Bears, 51-37, last Wednesday night.  
    The Fillies were facing one of the better players in the 10th region in Sara Sticklin, the six-foot junior guard, along with a considerable disadvantage in height. Despite this, Harrison County jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and battled even for the most part in the first period trailing by only four at the break.

    Cheerleaders compete in KAPOS Region competition Sunday
    The Harrison County varsity cheerleaders will compete Sunday at Bourbon County High School in the KAPOS Region 10 competition. The Harrison County squad will compete against Bourbon County, Mason County, Montgomery County and Pendleton County in the small squad division.  
    According to head coach DeDe Shirley, the squad has revamped its routine, adding more difficulty.

    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.
    Jan. 1 – At 3:16 a.m., an injury accident was reported on KY 3003 when Dexter Dailey was allegedly forced off the road by another vehicle and ran through a guardrail and flipped its side.

    Dec. 31 – At 1:20 p.m., Donald Weyandt reported that someone struck his rock wall and knocked a portion of the wall down at his home.

    Case reports
    Dec. 19 –  At 9:42 a.m., Samantha Hopkins, Broadway, reported that someone scratched the passenger side of her 2009 Nissan Altima with a sharp object damaging the paint.
    Dec. 19 – At 9:58 p.m., police were notified of a juvenile having been allegedly slapped by an adult male. The mother of the juvenile will pursue charges against the accused.
    Dec. 20 – At 11 a.m., Ginger Wiglesworth, Cynthiana, reported that a prescription she had filled for pre-op had been taken from her.
