  • The Secret is in the Dirt

    What I know about growing plants can fill a thimble.
    So, it’s no surprise to me that the cute little yellow flowering things I plopped in the dirt under my little something-or-other tree out front aren’t doing well.
    Even the tree, half-leafy and half-not, looks like it needs something, but I don’t know what. Our neighbors all have lovely gardenesque areas under their trees and elsewhere. I’m thinking they know a secret.

    Miller Bradley Isaac was born to Kacey Muntz and Van Isaac of Cynthiana on July 8, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 8 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Donna and Duke Rorer and Bradley and Jennifer Muntz; maternal great-grandparents are Mary Russell and Donald Dean Muntz, and Wanda Henderson and the late Ernest Henderson.

  • Graves-Mitchell to marry Sept. 29

    Kaci  Graves of Mt. Olivet, daughter of Matt and Christy Graves of Mt. Olivet, and Casey Mitchell of Mt. Olivet, son of Billy and Melissa Mitchell of Mt. Olivet, announce their upcoming wedding.
    The wedding will take place on Sept. 29, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at Old Washington Park in Maysville, Ky. Al Murray will officiate.
    Graves is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University and is a Lab Assistant at PPD Global Labs in Highland Heights.
    Mitchell is a maintenance technician at Farmer’s Tobacco Company in Cynthiana.

  • Woman’s Club of Harrison County holds September meeting

    The Woman’s Club of Harrison Country held their meeting on Sept. 13 at Hospice of the Bluegrass. Anna Ruth Mcloney, president, presided over the meeting and led members in the Pledge of Allegiance. This was our first meeting at the Hospice building and we appreciate the staff at Hospice of The Bluegrass allowing us to meet at their facility.

  • Hutchison to serve 52 months

    Local businessman Richard Hutchison will spend at least 85 percent of a 52-month sentence in a federal prison and will have to pay a $12,500 fine for his role in a Florida-Kentucky pill mill. Once his jail time his served, he’ll have to serve another three years on supervised release.
