  • How about a little help from my friends?

Hello again to one and all. Sorry I missed writing last week’s column in Viewpoint.
It was my week to write a column there, but I was still in a little trouble from the previous one that I had written about my wife.
I have since been allowed to sleep in the house once again... just kidding.
The real reason that I did not write a column in last week’s Viewpoint is real easy to explain... I simply had nothing to write about.
I am still new to this job and have not yet made all the contacts that I need to in the county and city.

  • Reds Fest 2010-11

On Friday night I traveled north to the Duke Energy Center to participate for the second time in Reds Fest.
Though it may be hard to believe, the Reds actually want Ray Sparks and me to be part of the show as we interview Reds players in front of a live audience.
This year we started with Bronson Arroyo followed by Jay Bruce and Mike Leake.
One of the best parts of this experience is how truly nice these men are to us and to the fans that stand and listen to the interviews.

  • Harrison’s short handed wrestlers finish 4th in Rumble Saturday

The Harrison County Thorobreds wrestling team began the season Saturday as it hosted the Rumble on the Hilltop.
Ten teams braved the cold and the snow, which greeted them as they began their trip to Cynthiana.
Assistant Coach Luke Tucker was in charge of the tournament and worked with the teams to keep the matches going and allow for a good tournament.

  • Fillies make it two straight with win over Lady Colonels

The 2010-2011 Fillies’ season  continued on the right path Monday night as the Harrison County girls won a road game at Bourbon County, 54-45, over the Lady Colonels.
The win makes the season record 2-0 with the next game Saturday night at McCreary County Central (0-2).
The loss dropped the Lady Colonels to 1-2 after defeating Deming and losing to Maysville St. Patrick, both on the road.

  • Eagles glide past Thorobreds Tuesday, 70-54

The Scott High Eagles made a four-point half time lead a 14-point lead at the end of three quarters and went on to defeat the Harrison County Thorobreds, 70-54 Tuesday night in Cynthiana.
The Breds’ inexperience reared its ugly head again in the third period as nine costly turnovers in the stanza helped limit the Breds to only seven points while the Eagles hit for 17.
“We played hard,” noted Coach Mike Reitz. “We have to learn to value each possession more and make better passes.  This will come with time.”
