    10 years ago . . .
    Births announced this week are: Christian Allen Graham Colemire and Savanna Grace Paige Colemire, Sept. 20, twin daughters of Lynn and Jessica Colemire; Alenah Faye Jones, Aug. 27, daughter of Martin and Christi Jones; Chandler Cole Power, Sept. 5, son of Douglas and Nickie Power.
    Berry residents give Nini’s Country Kitchen a new look. A group of Berry residents help revitalize their town. Donated supplies and materials were donated to remodel the restaurant.

    CLASS OF 1964
    The Harrison County High School Class of 1964 is getting ready for their annual reunion. This year it will be on Oct. 20 at Biancke’s Restaurant. If you come for dinner, we will be in the back room at 5 p.m. We’ll order from the menu and everybody will pay for their own meal.
    After dinner, at approximately 6:30 p.m., we’ll move to the patio and bar areas to socialize. You may want to attend both the dinner and social hours, but if you wish to attend only one, that’s okay, too. We hope to see you there.

  • HCHS students complete Teen Court program

    Thirty-nine Harrison county students who have completed Teen Court training were sworn in as officers of their county court Monday, Sept. 24.
    District Court Judge Bill Kuster, who serves Harrison, Pendleton, Nicholas, and Robertson counties and oversees the local Teen Court program, performed the ceremony at the Harrison County Judicial Center.  
    Teen-Court members performed two mock trials for the audience, and Judge David Melcher (retired) served as keynote speaker for the event.

  • KSP asks citizens to “Text a Tip” to fight crime

    The Kentucky State Police is initiating a new proactive program where citizens are now able to text confidential tips from their cell phone.  The program, “Text a Tip,” is designed to report criminal activity, assist with neighborhood watch and serve as an additional resource for schools and college campuses.

    Arrests, citations, warnings
    Sept. 21 -- Lindsay S. Mann, 31, was arrested on U.S. 27 South at Walmart and charged with theft by unlawful taking, shoplifting, and served to warrants for probation violation and theft by unlawful taking.
    Sept. 21 -- Earl T. Kelly, 47, was cited on Pleasant Street for disregarding stop sign and failure to notify DOT of address change.
    Sept. 21 -- David P. Clark, 55, was cited on Church Street for failure to wear seat belt.

    Traffic Cases
    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    Sept. 25 – At 6:02 p.m., a non-injury accident was reported on Granger Lane. William McCarty was traveling on Granger Lane when a calf walked into the roadway causing him to hit the animal.

  • Cynthiana Elks’ Drug Awareness Mobil Unit

    The Cynthiana Elk’s Lodge #438 participated in the 2012 Rod Run event on Aug. 25 by thaving their Drug Awareness Mobil Unit in front of the Harrison County Courthouse. Approximately 300 Drug Awareness pamphlets, balloons and other information were handed out. They also had a basketball goal Hoop Shoop set up for the children and adults to try their luck and skills.
