  • Martin-Jett to marry Saturday

    Maximus Jett announces the forthcoming marriage of his parents, Tiffney Nicole Martin and William Allen Jett.
    The bride is the daughter of Thelma and Dennis Craig of Burlington, Ky.
    The groom is the son of Patsy Wilson and the late William Glenn Jett of Cynthiana.
    The couple will wed on Nov. 19, 2011 at 3 p.m. at the Hour of Deliverance Chapel off of Second and Broadway in Cynthiana. Friends and family are invited to attend.

  • Rylee Dale Weeks

    Rylee Dale Weeks was born to Wayne Weeks Jr. and Cyndi Jo Adkins of Cynthiana, Ky., on Aug. 24, 2011 at Meadowview Regional Center in Maysville, Ky. She weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz., and is welcomed by her sister Kaylee Jo Adkins.
    Maternal grandparents are Alan Moody and Tammy Swinford of Cynthiana and Marvin C. Adkins of Morehead, Ky.; maternal great-grandparents are Lucille K. Oney of Flemingsburg, Ky. and the late Ermal Oney and Zelma S. Adkins of Morehead, Ky. and the late Avery Adkins.

  • Gracie May Ison

    Gracie May Ison was born to Keith and Janet Ison of Berry, Ky., on July 2, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz., and is welcomed by her sisters, Alexandria Ison and Morgan Ison.
    Maternal grandparents are Robert C. Wiggins of Cynthiana and Brenda K. Lindsey of Corinth, Ky.; maternal great-grandparents Robert C. Wiggins, Iowna Winkle, and Leonard and Vada Spence.
    Paternal grandparents are Charlotte and Allen Ison of Georgetown, Ky.; paternal great-grandparents are Ann and Owen Cravens and George and Ecie Ison.

  • Driver said ‘no brakes’ caused Thursday accident on Oddville Pike

    A Thursday afternoon wreck ended with a trip for two to the hospital.
    A call was placed to dispatch around 2:14 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, for an injury accident at the intersection of Elmarch and Oddville Avenue.
    According to Ptl. Harold Whitlock of the Cynthiana Police Department, a vehicle driven by Candis Mitchell was the cause for the wreck.

  • Cynthiana girl turns 11 on 11-11-11

    Destinie Spurlock celebrated a monumental birthday last week. She turned 11 years old on Nov. 11, 2011.
    She was born 11 years ago at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    The Northside Elementary student celebrated at home with her family and friends.
    She is the daughter of Kathy Spurlock and has one brother, Aaron Burkhart.

    Christmas tree lighting is Dec. 3
    The traditional Christmas tree lighting at Battle Grove Cemetery will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m.
    The lighting of the tree is to honor all service men and women who cannot be home for Christmas.
    The event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Cynthiana. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served.

    10 years ago . . .
    Births announced this week are: Collin Ray Bussell, Oct. 28, son of Marshall and Stacie Bussell; Cody Ryan Taylor, Oct. 30, son of Josh and Cassidy Taylor; Jaydy Torres, Oct. 30, daughter of Eusebio and Maria Torres.
    Cynthiana Mayor and Commissioners to receive pay raises in 2003.
    Chuck’s Garage, 209 N. Main St., is moving to a new location and will be closed from Nov. 26 to Dec. 3. The new location is at 50 Techway Dr., behind E.D. Bullard.

  • Thorobred to Cowboy, Bobby Feeback riding high to Dallas

    There are a lot of Dallas Cowboy fans in Cynthiana, some really big Cowboy fans, and one of Cynthiana’s own is getting prepared to become a Cowboy trainer.  
    Bobby Feeback will be heading to Dallas in mid July 2012 to begin an internship as a trainer for the NFL’s fabled “America’s Team.”  
    How does a young man get from a standout high school soccer, baseball and football player to the dream job of an NFL intern?  
    It requires some good fortune, some help from friends and hard work.

  • Meet the Breds and Fillies Friday

    There will be a Meet the Breds and Fillies Night on Friday, Nov. 18 at the high school gym. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a spaghetti dinner served by the Fillies at a cost of only $5 per plate in the cafeteria.  
    The will be over at 6:15 p.m. as the doors open for the scrimmage at 6 p.m. The cost for the scrimmage is $2 per person.  The Fillies and Thorobreds will hold an inter-squad scrimmage which begins at 6:30 p.m.  

  • Fillies run past Beechwood in Scott County scrimmage 76-59

    The first scrimmage of the season for the Harrison County basketball Fillies was held Saturday at Scott County High School.  
    The Fillies’ opponent was the Lady Tigers of Beechwood High School from the ninth region who is coming off a 17-11 season in 2010-11.  
    The Fillies started the game with a little show of nerves, but soon settled down and worked through the jitters.
