    Arrests, citations,
    warnings
    Oct. 11 -- Daniel Cline, 35, was arrested on Harrison County warrants for fraudulent use of credit card ($500 to $10,000), theft of identification without consent, criminal possession of forged instrument, second degree criminal trespassing.
    Oct. 11 -- Mitchell G. Knipper, 40, was arrested on Riggs Avenue and charged with alcohol intoxication, third or greater offense within 12 months.

    In our editorial conference room at the newspaper I write for, during reporter staff meetings I sit in the end seat nearest the door.
    It doesn’t have my name on it, but that’s my seat.
    It’s not necessarily the best seat at the table; it’s just mine. It’s where I sit.
    A few weeks ago, I walked into a reporter’s meeting and Mike, another reporter ,was in my seat.

    CYNTHIANA BAPTIST CHURCH
    All kids have heroes.  At Cynthiana Baptist Church’s Heroes Unmasked event, kids will meet heroes worth having—and have a ball at carnival games as well.
    Heroes Unmasked is a way for kids to learn more about God’s love. Children and their families will encounter costumed Bible Hero Actors, play more than a dozen carnival games, do crafts, and collect Bible Hero Cards to trade and treasure.

    Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about an increase in fraudulent activity related to the launch of the Affordable Care Act.  The open enrollment period begins today, October 1, and scammers understand that many Americans are confused about their rights and responsibilities with the new program.

    A few weeks ago I spent a Sunday afternoon at an outlet center in Orlando.

    I love outlets and malls, even if I’m not interested in buying things (which is a big if since I’m always searching for that shiny, cozy, silky, whatevery thing that will once and for all completely satisfy my soul. But that’s a topic for another day.)

    Blood Drive. Friday, Oct. 18 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at the Harrison County Extension Office in the multi-purpose room, 668 New Lair Rd. The drive is sponsored by the Harrison County Homemakers in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donors will receive an acrylic tumbler with a pink straw.
