  • Art Walk welcomes songwriters July 29

By Noel Christian Riddell, Guest writer
Every song, from million-selling chart toppers to bluegrass standards to ‘The Old Rugged Cross,’ was written by someone.
Whether pecking away at the family piano, humming while they worked, or strumming a guitar, the songwriter experienced a crystalline moment of inspiration in which words, melody and music gave birth to a song. In western music there are only 12 notes and every song from a simple blues to the most intricate baroque piece is composed from them.  Songwriters possess a potent gift.
