    So what does The Old Farmer’s Almanac say about 2011? Even if you don’t follow this sort of prognostication there are some interesting observations based in a little fact and a little myth. Here are a few of my favorites that may explain a bit more about nature as we enter into another year.  
    David Phillips of Environment Canada reminds us that plant and animal activity is rarely an indicator of what is to come but rather what occurred the previous season or year.

    Winter Fest Craft Program. Thursday, Jan. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Will be making three crafts and enjoying “Snowman Soup” (hot chocolate). This program is for our adult patrons. Pre-registration is required. Call the library at 234-4881 or stop by the front desk to register.
    Berry City Commission will meet Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m., at Berry City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.

    * Log Cabin, Sept. 4, 1914 - “New Post Office on Walnut Street - Inspector’s Secret Gallery, a long narrow gallery extending across above the main work room with only small ‘peep’ holes or openings with black shutters, enabling an inspector to see every employee in the office without himself being seen. A passage leads from the gallery to the basement.
