    Case reports
    Aug. 28 – Candace Slade reported that she was assaulted by two individuals who pushed her out of their vehicle at the Harrison Memorial Hospital parking lot.
    Aug. 28 – At 6:30 p.m., police were called to Shell Apple Market where Danny Halley reported that he had been hit over the head with a pipe near his apartment on Main Street. Police cited Mose B. Cundiff charging him with second degree assault.

  • Jones-Rawlings to wed Sept. 29

    Larry and JoAnn (Bruin) Jones announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Loren Leslee Jones to Nathan Russell Rawlings, son of Jeanette Rawlings and Richard Rawlings.
    The wedding will take place at Mt. Gilead Church off Havilandsville Road, Cynthiana, Ky., on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow the ceremony at the farm of Robert and Linda Bruin, Richland Creek. All friends and family are invited to attend. No formal invitations are being sent.

  • Parkers celebrate golden anniversary

    Joe and Brenda Parker (Foley) were married on Sept. 15, 1962, at Sunrise Christian Church in Sunrise, Ky.
    Joe is the CEO and director of operations for ImperiaAgro, which grows corn and soybeans in the Ukraine. Brenda is a retired music therapist. They have lived for 40 years in Florence, Ky., and attend First Church of Christ in Burlington, Ky.
    They are the parents and in-laws of Greg and Lisa Winans; Scott and Amy Parker; and JJ and Lucia Parker. The couple has four young grandchildren,  Treyson Parker, William Parker, Camille Parker, and Elijah Parker.

    The Harrison County High School Class of 2002 will hold their 10 year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Cynthiana Country Club from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Cost is $25 per person and appetizers and desserts will be served. A cash bar will be available.

    Harrison County Fiscal Court approves purchase of new radio equipment for the Cynthiana Fire Department. Total costs will be $5,541 plus another $450 or so for a new base.

  • Southwood brothers charged in 2011 gun theft at Nichols’ garage

    Just as one brother entered guilty pleas in the theft of firearms in Harrison Circuit Court, another was indicted on the same charges.
    John Southwood, 28, who has allegedly been in hiding in eastern Kentucky, was indicted Tuesday on five counts related to a break-in at a garage owned by Larry Nichols.
    According to Cpl. Walter Tapp, Southwood along with his brother Kevin took an SKS rifle and a .380 pistol from Nichols.
    The alleged incident occurred between Sept. 18 and Sept. 20, 2011.
