  • Main Street Program hosts meeting to establish focus

    After a three-hour marathon brainstorming session Monday night at the Harrison County Extension building, the Cynthiana - Harrison County Main Street Program leader has a better sense of the direction needed to help improve the economic health and vitality of downtown Cynthiana.

  • Tennis competition begins Friday on the Hilltop

    Harrison County will host the 10th Region Tennis competition beginning at 10 a.m. on the high school tennis courts.  
    The Breds and Fillies will compete in this tough competition which is generally dominated by the northern schools of the region.
    Competing for the Fillies will be seniors Erin Bradford and Bryson Clifford, junior Alycia Schaum, sophomores Alexis Lanza and Sara Ann Ledford and 8th grader Emmalee Lutes along with seventh graders Gracie Roberts and Melony Dunaway.

  • Kattleman’s Kreek owners celebrating daughter’s birthday with free ice cream

    Mirian Abigail McKinley is turning 1 year old and in celebration of her birthday, the public is invited to celebrate at Kattlemans Kreek on May 2.

    All guests who wish “Abby” a happy birthday will be given a free soft-serve ice cream cone dipped in chocolate.

    Balloons will be given to each child.

  • Baseball and softball keeping us busy

    Track, tennis and other spring sports are in full swing, but the sports that keep me the busiest are softball and baseball.  
    Umpiring softball takes two or three nights or Saturdays each week and when the daily baseball game is added it makes it tough to get everything in for one guy.  
    I am always grateful to the coaches who send me the information following the events and to Jim Swinford who helps me out a lot with baseball.

  • KSP concert, cruise in next weekend

    Kentucky State Police will be hosting a concert and cruise in at Flat Run Veterans’ Park on May 10 to benefit Trooper Island and Shop with a Cop.

    JoJo Gunn will be performing along with Tpr. Endre Samu, who will present an Elvis tribute.

    Students in Brooke Kendall’s first grade class at Southside Elementary School were all ‘abuzz’ Friday morning when one of Harrison County’s local bee keepers, Jane Thomas, visited the class with a see-through beehive.
