  • Fillies win 3 of 4 in 40-team Clarksville Tournament

    The Harrison County Fillies traveled to Clarksville, Tenn., last weekend and won three straight games before falling to Macon County, Tenn., 6-2 in the second game on Saturday.
    The Fillies opened the tournament by playing Ohio County, Ky., (2-6) and edging the Lady Eagles by a 2-1 score.  
    Senior Ashley Coppage drove in both Fillies runs in the game with a double and a sacrifice fly.  
    Ohio County’s pitching limited the Fillies to only two hits, the Coppage double and a single by Sydney Motell.

  • Barnett to host Omega’s May meeting

    The April meeting of Preceptor Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held on Monday, April 1 in the community room in Clifton Village. Pat Terhune was hostess for the evening.
    Officers for the coming year were elected and are as follows: Bonnie Teater-president, Betty Kay McCullough-vice president, Nancy Deitemeyer-recording secretary, Rosemary Lucas-corresponding secretary, Linda Root-treasurer, and Pat Terhune-Extension officer.
    Plans for a brunch to be held later in the month for the residents of Clifton Village were completed.

    * Indeed, we are saddened at the passing of our Harold Slade, our museum curator, our guide, our ‘hanger upper’ - but we are certain that he would want us to move ever onward and to be diligent in our efforts to maintain and administer the museum.

  • Homemakers to host tea parties

    The Harrison County Homemakers will be hosting a tea party at the local nursing homes on April 18 and 19.
    April 18: Cedar Ridge Assisted Living, 11 a.m.; and Cedar Ridge Health Campus, 2 p.m.
    April 19: Edgemont Healthcare, 10 a.m.; and Grand Haven Nursing Home, 2 p.m.
