It was during the holidays last year that the Peak family met a little boy from China who stole their hearts.
Luke, who was 6 at the time, was in the United States for the sole purpose of finding a forever family. Ashley Peak saw a Facebook post of a friend of a friend about Luke.
From there, the Peaks never looked back.
On Dec. 21, the Peak family returned to Cynthiana following a two-week stay in China that included the adoption of Luke.

This is the second winter season that the state road department in Kentucky will be impacted by an order passed down by Gov. Matt Bevin to prioritize snow removal.

Barnett said that he weighed-in at about 275 when he was in high school, bumped up to 290 as his playing weight when he was a collegiate football player at Cornell University, and was over 300 pounds when he left the Ivy League school with a degree in farm management and finance.

  • Asian lady beetles on the move

Some years are worse than others: I remember years when it was like a siege of lady beetles, other years a few popped up here or there.
Usually they sneak their way into our homes as a noticeable chill settles in.
On sunny days they cling to the screen door on the south side of where I write but I need not worry about them as they sun themselves. The ones that make it inside, however, meet my vacuum cleaner.
The perceived invasion is as simple as looking for a little warmth and protection from winter weather.
