    I’ve started this column at least a dozen times today, and there are a dozen wadded up pieces of paper in my trash can.
    How do I even begin to put into words the events of this past week? My heart overflows with awe and gratitude -- and shame that I had doubted the love and kindness of God my Father.
    So, I guess I’ll begin with my confession: In the days leading up to the arrival of Hurricane Irma on Sunday, even though God said, “Fear not,” I feared.

  • Harrison County FFA 5K is Sept. 30

    The Harrison County FFA Alumni Association is hosting a Color Run 5K/1 Mile Race on Saturday Sept. 30, at the Harrison County Middle School at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the race will go to benefit the Harrison County FFA Chapter with its programs and trips this year.  

  • Artist to begin soon on Arts Council’s third mural

    Cynthiana’s third Arts Council-sponsored mural is ready to be painted.
    Arts Council member Roger Slade said the Walnut Street building has been prepped and now it’s just a matter of logistics.
    Jerielle Hanon, a Lexington artist, is set to begin a mural displaying four bourbon bottles from historic Harrison County distilleries as soon as a lift can be scheduled, said Slade.

    Cynthiana firefighters were sworn in by Mayor James Smith on Monday. They also received a first-responder shirt from the city. Firefighters are: front row, from left, Lt.   • Snopeks celebrate 50th anniversary

    Don and Barbara Snopek celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
    They were married June 10, 1967 at the Cathedral of Christ the King located in Lexington, Ky. Father George Schumacher officiated the ceremony.
