  • Union negotiations in sports; How ridiculous

    What is going on in sports right now is actually funny if it wouldn’t be so ridiculous.  The National Football League and the player’s union can’t agree on a contract so they are locked out.  
    The National Basketball Association and the players’ union can’t agree on a contract and talk of a strike looms on the horizon.  
    You talk about your slow learners. Can’t these people see what striking did to baseball and hockey?

    HCHS boys’ soccer
    open field followed by try-outs
    The Harrison County High School boys’ soccer team will be having open field at Lebus Soccer Field from  3:30-5:30 p.m. July 11-14.
    Also, HCHS boys’ soccer tryouts will be held on July 18 and 19 at Lebus Field from 7-9 p.m. Any boy who will be in grades 7-12 are welcome to come and tryout.

    Traffic Cases
    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    June 16 – At 4:45 p.m., a non injury accident was reported on US 62 East. Jarret Moore was traveling on US 62 when he claimed to he blacked out and struck a culvert and a mail box before coming to a rest.

  • Cynthiana Police Department

    Case reports
    June 17 – At 12:06 a.m., police were notified of a juvenile who would not mind her mother on Walnut Street.
    June 17 – At 10:10 a.m., police confiscated two cultivated marijuana plants at 121 Second St. One plant was growing in a pot and the other in a coffee can. No charges have been issued.
    June 17 – At 12 p.m., a Cynthiana woman reported to police that her husband violated an EPO by leaving a long text message on her phone.
