    Traffic Cases
    The following information from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office indicates drivers and/or owners whose vehicles were involved in accidents.

    March 1 – At 5:21 p.m., a non-injury accident was reported on Grays Run Pike four miles from town. Dillion Palmer lost control on a patch of ice in the road causing him to strike a fence post.

  • Cynthiana Police Department

    Case reports
    Feb. 26 – At 8:17 a.m., police investigated the apparent theft of a cell phone that was to be mail delivered to Felicia Wiglesworth. She told police the phone was reportedly delivered to her old address on Feb. 19.The phone had allegedly been stolen and sold for $20. Police are seeking complaints for two suspects in the case.
    March 1 – At 3 p.m., police took a report of a missing juvenile. The 14-year-old returned home later.

  • Basketball Breds fall to Scott Eagles in region semi-final

    In a hard-fought game Friday night the Harrison County Thorobreds dropped a 58-44 verdict to the Scott High Eagles in the 10th Region semi-finals.
    The cold shooting of Coach Larry Kendall’s charges late in the second quarter spelled doom for the Breds. Up to that point, the Breds were playing evenly with Scott High.  
    The Thorobreds took an early lead as they held the northern Kentucky Eagles to only two field goals in the first period.  

  • Basketball All Region team named for 10th Region Boys

    The 10th Region Coaches Association announced this year’s 15-member all-region team based on voting by the coaches.  
    Tenth Region champion Montgomery County had two players on the 15-team roster as did Augusta, Bishop Brossart and Campbell County.  
    Despite making it to the semi final round, both Scott High and Harrison County had only one player among the 15 with the Thorobreds having only Scott Kendall named to either the 15-player team or the 13-player honorable mention list.

  • HCHS, HCMS are regional archery champions

    Continuing a tradition of powerful archery, the Harrison County High School and Middle School Archery teams brought home first place in the 8th Region archery competition.  
    The meet, which was held on Saturday in Independence at the Twenhofel Middle School, featured nine high school and nine middle school teams.  (William H. Twenhofel is a famous geologist from Covington).

  • Spring forward

    This weekend will mark the return of spring’s Daylight Savings Time (DST). Beginning at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 10, Daylight Savings Time will return and all clocks should be moved forward one hour.
