    Cross country meet postponed until
    Thursday due to weather
    Coach Danny Simpson likes the Cynthiana Country Club course for a meet but the weather was just too bad to hold the annual Harrison County Invitational last week.  
    “It rained two inches on Wednesday and then was drizzling and cold Thursday so we decided to try for a better day,” said Simpson. “We want to give the athletes their best chance for success and even on this fine course today wasn’t it.”

    BERRY CHRISTIAN
    The Berry Christian Church bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring local artists, Tupperware, premier jewelry, Rada knives and crafts. Items on hand or special order available.
    Everyone is welcome.
    CENTRAL CHRISTIAN
    Central Christian Church will be hosting a Singspiration on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. Local talent will be featured. Refreshments will be served after the program. Everyone is invited to attend.
    Pastor Barry Wethington is travelling with a Missions group to Haiti this month.

  • A marquee wedding proposal

    Harrison County High School sweethearts Andrea Rankin and Justin Wells were together nearly five years when they split up in 2003.
    They met when Andrea was 14 years old during a shared P.E. class and made an instant connection.
    However, following a short engagement, the couple decided to go their separate ways.
    Their split was a total loss of contact with one another for eight years.
    However, through what Justin calls “the wonder of social networking,” they reconnected in April.

  • Local pets featured in new 2012 Humane Society Calendar

    Local pets from Harrison County are the focus of the first annual 2012 Humane Society engagement calendar book. Each month features two local pets, with a story of their lives and a full page professional photo of the ‘pet of the month’.

    David Tyler Collins was born to Derrick and Amanda Collins on Sept. 19, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs.
    Maternal grandparents are Peachie and Vicki Herrington of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are David and Jackie Collins of Cynthiana.

  • Deitemeyer hosts October Omega meeting

    The October meeting of the Preceptor Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held at the home of Nancy Deitemeyer. Patsy Barnett, president, called the meeting to order. The theme for the year is “Building Our Future on Tradition” and keeping with that idea, the social committee planned an outing to Keeneland to celebrate the 75th year of horse racing in Kentucky.
