  • LVC/MCTC holds graduation and awards program May 2

    The Licking Valley Campus of Maysville Community and Technical College held its annual graduation celebration and awards program on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Prizing House in Cynthiana.  
    The evening was filled with music, food and honors for MCTC/LVC graduates.
    The program opened with the LVC choir singing “My Old Kentucky Home” and a welcome from Bruce Florence.
    Remarks were offered by Dr. Juston Pate, Chief Academic Officer, who bestowed the honor awards on the winning recipients.

  • Academic briefs

    Brooke Razor graduated Summa Cum Laude on Sunday, May 5 from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy.  
    Razor has received a full tuition merit scholarship from Villanova Law School, and will begin her studies in Philadelphia in the fall.
    She is the daughter of Bow and Lynne Switzer and a 2009 graduate of Harrison County High School.

  • Goldens to celebrate 35th anniversary

    Andrew and Cathy Golden were married May 27, 1978 at First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert L. Anderson of Cynthiana.
    The couple owns and operates their own business, A.R. Golden Heating and Air Conditioning.
    Drew is the son of Lee and Mary Golden and Cathy is the daughter of Donald C. Fryman and Jo Ann Ewalt Giles. They have four children, Edward Golden, Mary Jo Ann Leahy of Florida, Michael Golden of Lexington, and Ryan Golden of Georgetown; three step grandchildren; and eight grandchildren.

    Trey Alan Wood was born to Lucas and Stephanie Wood of Cynthiana on March 26, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital.
    He weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Madison Wood.
    Maternal grandparents are Anthony and Karen Perkins of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Jessie and Venita Wood of Cynthiana.

    Casen Evan Fields was born to Myah Fields and Josh Fields of Georgetown on April 8, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky.
    He weighed 4 lbs. 3 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Darren Ecklar (Jennifer Webb) of Richmond and Christina Riggs of Lexington; maternal great-grandparents are Gary and Janice Duckworth of Georgetown, Carlene Ecklar of Cynthiana, and Rex Ecklar of Cynthiana.

    Megann Grace Inez Click was born to Amy Renee Thomas and Sidney Allen Click of Lewis County, Ky., on March 7, 2013 at St. Claire Regional Hospital in Rowan County, Ky.
    She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz., and is welcomed by her sister, Sidney M.C. Click and brother, Samuel C.W. Click.
    Maternal grandparents are Linda C. Cordray of Harrison County, Ky., and Michael L. Thomas of Marion County, Ky.; maternal great-grandparents are David N. and Peggy A. Cordray; maternal great-great-grandparents are Nora and Jack McCauley, all of Harrison County.

    Dr. John S. Oldham Jr. has decided to leave Harrison Memorial Hospital and will be joining the Bariatric Surgery Team at Georgetown Community Hospital. Patient records are available by calling the surgeon’s office.

  • Omega Preceptor sorority holds last meeting of the year

    Omega Preceptor closed out the sorority year with their last meeting at the Vault. Out going President Pat Terhune thanked all the officers for their committed service this past year and presented each with a potted plant. Treasurer’s report was given and bills paid.
