  • Harrison County Hilltop news

    The fall cross country season got off and running last week with the Harrison County Thorobreds and Fillies competing in a pair of early season meets.

    Last Wednesday, the Breds finished third and the Fillies finished third in an all comers meet at the Archives of Frankfort. Then on Saturday, in a step up in competition, the Breds were sixth and the Fillies third in the Pendleton County Invitational.

    •Jana Ecklar and Douglas R. Leggett. The open ceremony will take place Saturday, Sept. 26 at 4:30 p.m. at Owingsville Church of God in Owingsville. A reception will follow at the church.

    •Julie Michelle Baker and Steven Michael Johnson-Thacker. The wedding will take place on Oct. 10, 2009 at the Hawks Nest in Cynthiana. Invitations are being sent to family and friends.

    METHODIST

    A fish fry and gospel music, hosted by Berry United Methodist Church, will be held Friday, Sept. 4 at the Harrison County 4-H Fairgrounds. Serving time is  5-10 p.m. Cost is $5. Gospel music starts at 6 p.m. by Earl Gross and various local singers.

    Fish will be cooked by David Turner-honor of Bluegrass Smokers. Everyone is welcome.

  • Commission re-evaluates take-home fleet for city police department

    The Cynthiana City Commission will once again consider sending police officers home... with their cruisers.

    “There are benefits to the department and the city,” said Commissioner Amanda Moore at Tuesday evening’s city commission meeting.

    The police department’s ‘take home fleet’ had ended in July 2007, after the commission at the time voted to discontinue the program.
