  • Tigers rip Thorobreds Saturday night, 41-9

Homecoming 2010 was first made uncomfortable by the rain, though the community needs the rain. The Bardstown Tigers absolutely spoiled the night as they ran rough shod over the Harrison County Thorobreds dominating every facet of the game.

The Thorobreds, playing without their three fastest players who were out with injuries, could never catch up to the fleet footed Tigers.

“We were not very good,” lamented Breds’ Coach Mark Carroll. “The same issues we had last week came back tonight and hurt us again.”

  • Marching Thorobreds finish strong at Mason Classic

The Marching Thorobreds have not competed since Sept. 18, and on Saturday, Oct. 9, they were ready to show the improvements made during those three long weeks.

Their efforts certainly paid off as they earned a first place finish in class 4A at the 29th annual Mason County Band Classic.

The color guard was also named as the top guard in class 4A, and was only a breath behind Lloyd Memorial for taking the overall color guard trophy.

  • Sometimes it’s hip to be square

Although I’m embarrassed to admit this, I’m a sucker for whatever’s cool or hip.

When I was 12, I convinced my mom that I needed a pair of white go-go boots because the “Hulabaloo” dancers wore them on TV. (If you have to ask “What’s ‘Hulabalo?’” I don’t want to hear it.)

Mom got them for me at the Stride Rite shoe store, but I never wore them. Hip and cool chicks could get away with wearing white go-go boots, but I never could, not at 12 or 22 or 32.

  • Help elect Lutz for magistrate

    To the editor:

People say that as each election comes around, that this is the most important election ever. Well, we don’t know if that is true or not, but what we do know is that Harrison County has not developed like the surrounding counties have. Harrison County has had the same group of people in office and we need a change to lead us to a bright future. One leader of that generation is Missy Lutz, who is running for magistrate in District 4 - that is the Leesburg and Extension Office precincts. Please help us get her elected.
