    The answer is: Lamar Lundy.
    He was one of the “Fearsome Foursome,” the starting defensive end of the Los Angeles Rams in the 1960s.
    It’s one of my husband’s favorite sports trivia stumpers.
    He says most sports fans can name Rosey Grier, Merlin Olsen and Deacon Jones, but for some reason Lamar Lundy stumps them, although that’s the one name I always remember.

  • Adelphos quartet sings at Legends game

    Dr. Stephen Besson of Cynthiana was joined by Jerry Wise, David Crutchfield and Bart Rogers, who are all members of Adelphos quartet, to sing the National Anthem at a Legends game.

    An 18th Judicial District Drug Court fund raiser was held to help raise money for Champions for a Drug Free Harrison County. Karen Adams, right, representing Champions, received the check from Christina Hoots, left, and Kristina Cummings, center. The 18th Judicial District includes Harrison, Nicholas, Pendleton and Robertson counties.

    Butterfly Craft Program. Thursday, June 16 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for adults. In celebration of Butterfly Day we will be making twisted wire form butterfly ornaments and painting canvas butterflies. Pre-register by calling or stopping by the front desk of the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.

    The Barnes family reunion, descendants of M.R. and Nancy Scott Barnes, will be held from noon to ? on June 25 at Unity Christian Church in the new shelter. A potluck meal will be served.
    All friends and relatives are invited.

    The reunion of David Evans McCauley will be held Saturday, June 18, at noon.
    A potluck will be held at the Harrison County 4-H Center located on US 27 South.
    Family members are encouraged to bring recipes and pictures to share with all.

  • Alice Powell retiring after 34 years at Shady Lawn

    Alice Powell, who has worked at Shady Lawn for 34 years is retiring. She has worked in many positions, but her favorite is the kitchen. Powell said she will miss the residents and has enjoyed working for former owners Jim and Martha Brown as well as the new owners Kelli and Challie Bailey. Her plans after retirement include spending more time with her husband, Charles, and her children, Tracey and Angela Powell, and her grandchildren, Demond, Chris, Jasmine and Dominique. Her last day was June 15.

  • Dog dipping day

    Harrison County Fiscal Court sponsored a dog dipping/rabies vaccination day at Cynthiana Southern States on Saturday, June 11. Magistrate Jeff Brunker helped Jake, a golden retriever, get his dip.  Brunker also helped a Yorkie named Harmony. The Harrison County Flora Shrophire Animal Shelter received $235 in donations. There were also four animals adopted. Walmart, KC Provisions and Ken’s NewMarket provided refreshments for the event.
