    The Ruddles Mills Consolidated School reunion will be held Saturday, June 25 at Ruddles Mills Christian Church, Ruddles Mills, Ky. The meal is potluck so bring a covered dish to share. Fellowship begins at 5 p.m. and the meal will be served at 6 p.m.

  • Driver Safety Course 55+ to be offered on June 24

    The Driver Safety Course 55+ will be held Friday, June 24, from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Harrison County Extension Office, 668 New Lair Rd., Cynthiana. Call 859-234-5510 to register by June 17. This program is free of charge and a light lunch will be served.

    Blue Grass Energy unveils its brand new facility on Sea Biscuit Way (Industrial Park) during its annual meeting. The event featured the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives hot air balloon, inflatables for children, reptile and amphibian display, gospel music, food and cash prizes.

    Harrison County senior Jami Davis was named 10th Region Prep Softball Player of the Year by the region’s coaches.
    She and the other regional players of the year will be honored between games this Sunday, June 19, at the East-West All Star games at Georgetown College.
    Davis and fellow HCHS senior Maci Martin were both chosen to be on the East squad this weekend.

  • Marshall named to Kentucky All-Star squad

    Connor Marshall, a freshman-to-be at Harrison County High School in the 2016-17 school year, will play in the Kentucky/Tennessee Eighth Grade All Star Football Game this Saturday, June 18, at WKU’s L.T. Smith Stadium.
    Marshall, an offensive lineman, is one of 40 players from Kentucky who was selected for the game.

  • Summer time blues

    Sports is difficult to write during the summer.  
    Thankfully, Lee Kendall is writing for me this week while I vacation in hot-as-heck South Carolina.  
    The information is more difficult to make interesting in the summer because the sports are generally involving the very young or high school sports that are AAU or some camp sports, which are not really to the general interest.

  • Harrison County represented at football all star game

    Six Harrison County football players, three HCHS assistant coaches and Breds head coach Neil Furnish joined head coach Ray Graham for an all star football contest last weekend in Morehead.
    Graham, who was forced out as head coach at Rowan County after this past season, was back on the gridiron last week preparing for the contest, along with his former players, who were now serving as assistant coaches.

    Deadline for baseball HOF
    tickets this Friday
    The Cynthiana--Harrison County Baseball Hall of Fame committee requests that anyone needing tickets to the June 25th induction banquet, please purchase those tickets by the end of the business day tomorrow, June 17.
    The induction ceremony and banquet will be held at the Cynthiana Elks lodge, beginning at 5:30 with a reception. The meal will commence at 6, with the inductions immediately following.
