    Alright, I know, this last week already felt like fall but it really is only the end of August.  

    This year may just be the perfect year to pull off the perfect fall garden as a result. Ample moisture and relatively mild temperatures mean that a second round of planting for a fall garden can get a good start.

    Isabella Nicole Preston was born to Leslie Preston and Anthony Bills of Cynthiana on July 15, 2013, at Georgetown Community Hospital.

    She weighed 7 lbs., 12 oz and is welcomed home by brothers, Hunter Preston, Ashton Preston, Bradley Bills, James Bills and a sister, Sadie Bills.

    The Gilkerson/Gilkison family reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Legion Hall, Legion Road, Paris, Ky. Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m.

    Bring a covered dish for sharing, soft drinks of your choice. Utensils, plates, napkins, lemonade and coffee will be furnished. Bring your family tree information and anything you would like to display.

    Westside kindergarten students Daniel Hanson and Jacob Elligson looking into the boys’ bathroom with apprehension. Harrison County’s schools opened to students on Tuesday, Aug. 13. School officials said enrollment appeared to be up at the elementary schools.

    Former University of Kentucky basketball coach Joe B. Hall will be honored in his native Cynthiana when a new U.S. 27 bridge is dedicated in his name – the Joe B. Hall Bridge – on Friday, Aug. 23 at 5:30 p.m. at the bridge.
