    I trust that the British Secret Service will not be making its way into my home after the following article due to a concern raised about my feelings toward the royal baby.

    Despite my happiness for Will and Kate giving birth to a healthy baby boy, I still am sad about the priorities of many Americans who have put their lives on hold during their anticipation for the arrival of the little nipper.

  • Ratchford named CAC Executive Director

    The Community Action Council Board of Directors has hired Malcolm Ratchford, previously the manager for Neighborhood and Community Services, as the organization’s next Executive Director.
    The Executive Director will oversee approximately 275 employees, supported by more than 600 volunteers. The Council’s current annual budget is approximately $25 million. Ratchford will be the Council’s 4th Executive Director since its founding in 1965 and replaces retired longtime director Jack Burch.

    Late July and August is when our spring-planted onions, garlic and potatoes reach maturity and are ready for harvest.  
    If you want to harvest some new potatoes, onions or garlic before they reach maturity enjoy them at the table in short order; however, if you want to store them it is important to harvest them at the correct time.
