    A new church and school being built near Sunrise. The congregation of Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church and School braved the frigid temperatures to frame the new church building. The church is located on Ky. 1284 in Sunrise.

  • Orchids determined by the bloom

    Have you ever wondered what makes an orchid an orchid?
    Well, it is all about flower parts. In fact, most plants are categorized in the Plant Kingdom by their flowers.  For orchids, it is the fact that they have three sepals and three petals.  
    Many flowers have green sepals that protect the flower inside which cradles the bloom as it opens.
    You will understand this nuance if you have ever observed the slow transformation of an opening bloom.

  • HMH receives accreditation from College of American Pathologists

    Harrison Memorial Hospital Laboratory, Cynthiana, Ky., has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.
    The laboratory’s medical director, Patrick C. Crowe, M.D. was advised of this national recognition and congratulated for the excellence of the services being provided. Harrison Memorial Hospital’s Laboratory Department is one of more than 7,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.

    The call was made about an hour ago at 2:45 p.m. by Harrison County school officials. 

    Tomorrow was to be Rotary Career Day for some HCHS students. That has been rescheduled for next Thursday.
