    She is the daughter of  Charles and Loretha Helvey of Cynthiana.


  • Harrison County’s Barnett, Moss are regional champs

    Brandon Barnett was favored to win going into the 7th Region Tournament last weekend and he did not disappoint. Josh Moss was third seeded, but he defeated both the first and second seed to give Harrison County two regional winners. 

    The Thorobreds finished seventh in team points as Woodford County won its third straight regional crown.

  • Fillies lose two heartbreakers

    Unlike the snow, Harrison County’s Fillies couldn’t get the last shot to drop and lost heartbreakers on Friday and Saturday. Friday night at home the Fillies lost to Paris 51-49 and Saturday they traveled to West Jessamine and fell 44-41.

    Friday night the Lady Greyhounds jumped out to a big lead outscoring the Fillies 17-6 in the first quarter. More than half of the quarter was gone before the Fillies scored, and they were already down six points. 

  • Recreation baseball sign ups Saturday

    Recreation baseball sign ups Saturday

    Harrison County Recreation Department director, Rick Chasteen, has announced that sign ups for this year’s baseball leagues will begin Saturday. The sign ups will be at Sports Unlimited from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 20.

    This includes Little League, coach pitch, tee-ball, instructional and pigtail softball.

  • Harrison County approved for Dead Animal Removal Assistance Program

    The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board approves $7,500 at their monthly meeting in support of a Deceased Farm Animal Removal Program in Harrison County. The Harrison County Fiscal Court submitted a proposal to the Harrison County Agricultural Development Council and the Kentucky Agricultural Development Board.

  • NAP application closing dates for crops approaching

    The deadlines to file an application for natural disaster protection under the Noninsured Assistance Program (NAP) are March 1 and 15.

    The crops for the March 1 deadline are: Alfalfa, Clover, Grass and Mixed Grass intended for grazing, hay, or seed.
