  • Woman arrested on heroin charges

    Just after midnight Wednesday morning, Cynthiana Police officers were attempting to serve a warrant for one subject when chance handed them a heroin arrest.
    Ptl. Michael Kiskaden, Sgt. Eric Kendall and Ptl. Justin Jett were at an apartment on Fifth Street where Steven Fogle was known to frequent. Fogle had allegedly failed to make a scheduled court appearance and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

  • Family history book deadline coming soon

    The Harrison County Historical Society announced the final deadline for submission of family histories to the Harrison County Family History Book at no charge is Monday, Sept. 15.
    More than 65 family histories have been received so far for the book with more than 70 percent coming from the area. Many stories and orders have also come from other states including Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and California.
    Books will sell for $54.95 plus $3.30 Kentucky sales tax. They are sold on a pre-sale basis only.

  • Local author Mattmiller's new book soon to be released

    Cloud 9 Press is proud to announce the release of best-selling Kentucky author Mark Mattmiller’s newest book, “There I Shall Be.”
    “There I Shall Be” is Mattmiller’s second published work, following his successful debut novel, “Neighboring.” The work is illustrated by noted Kentucky artist Christopher Epling.
    “There I Shall Be” features seven short stories stitched together around the fictional Central Kentucky community of Mt. Zion, Kentucky.

    Robin Rhoads Florence is coming home.

    In fact she’s returning as director of a program she helped launch in 1990.

  • Water Day is Saturday at Flat Run Park

    This Saturday will mark the first-ever Water Day at Flat Run Veterans Park.

    This will be a treat for children. There will be an inflated water slide, a slip ‘n slide, water games, water guns, balloon toss and snow cones. If that’s not enough to get soaked, how about getting sprayed by the Cynthiana Fire Department?
