The bridge on Allen Pike will remain closed until it can be replaced.
The bridge was closed Monday morning after possible structural issues were discovered, Harrison County Judge-Executive Alex Barnett said.
Officials had the bridge inspected, and the inspection revealed serious structural failure, Barnett said during Tuesday’s fiscal court meeting.
The magistrates voted unanimously to declare an emergency, so as to receive funds to help with the repair.
The Allen Pike bridge is closed due to structural concerns.
The bridge was closed down Monday morning, and Harrison County Judge-Executive Alex Barnett said just after 2:30 p.m. Monday that there is no time line yet of when the bridge might be re-opened.
He said some possible structural problems were discovered, and officials decided to close the bridge to be safe.
Barnett said a heavy truck went over the bridge Monday morning, and some damage occurred at one end of the bridge.
