The 40-year-old Cynthiana woman accused of shooting her husband in the crotch nearly a year ago changed her not guilty plea to guilty on an amended charge.
Kerrie Florence Alvarez was indicted in June on a charge of first degree assault, domestic violence after she shot Javier Alvarez on Feb. 18 in front of their Newsome Avenue home.
The annual Unity March was held to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday morning. A large crowd turned out to honor King’s birthday and

Southside Elementary students collected items for the Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter in lieu of exchanging girts at Christmas. The donations were delivered to the Animal Shelter last week and the students and animals were treated to some “TLC.” The donations came from the students in the fourth grade classes of DeAnna Murdock, Tyler Hartzel and Judy Clevinger.
