    Attendance for the “Understanding Teenagers” forum at Harrison County High School exceeded the expectations of its organizers and seemed to launch a community dialogue about what steps the community can do to address, and reduce, the incidence of teen suicide.

  • Runner charged with assault of officer

    A Harrison County man remains in jail after being charged with assault of a police officer.
    Christopher Combs, 29, was arrested Thursday night after police were called to a fight on Fourth Street.
    According to Ptl. Joe Warden of the Cynthiana Police Department, Combs was one of the parties involved in the fight.
    When Warden advised Combs that he had an outstanding warrant from a Fayette County indictment, Combs jumped from the porch and began running from the area.

    Home and Garden Show next weekend
    Cynthiana’s Home and Garden Show will be next weekend at the Burley Marketing Coop on U.S. 27 North.
    The show will begin at  9 a.m. Saturday, April 26, and at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 27. Closing is at 4 p.m. both days.
    Admission is on non-perishable food item per person. All donations will go to the Harrison County Food Pantry.
    The show will feature nearly 70 booths as well as food and drink booths.

  • Pinwheel Parade

    Taden Cracraft, Jonah Cockrell and Addlee Miles led the New Beginnings Day Care’s pinwheel parade last Wednesday in front of Harrison County High School. The parade was in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Pinwheels for Prevention campaign.

  • LV Singers’ anniversary performances this week

    The Licking Valley Singers will present its spring choral concert this weekend at the Cynthiana Baptist Church.

    This year’s concert will be an anniversary celebration presenting music from performances over the last five years and 10 concerts.

    Steven W. Price, who escaped from the Grant County Detention Center on Thursday, April 3, was captured Thursday night after an off-duty Cynthiana Police Officer recognized Price and called for an on-duty officer.
