    The Harrison County High School Concert Band performed at the KMEA Concert Band Festival Assessment on Tuesday, March 25, at Martha Layne Collins High School in Shelbyville. 

    The band performed three prepared selections and was required to sight read one additional piece.

  • LVC Extension offers childcare training

    The Licking Valley Campus Workforce Solutions and Wedco District Health Department are sponsoring a childcare training.  
    This training will take place at the Licking Valley Campus Extension in Harrison Square on Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  
    The cost of the class is $45.  The training will have three classes including:
    •Carol Carson, child care health consultant with the Wedco District Health Department, will teach a session entitled, Domestic Violence and the Effect on Children.  

  • Changes made in Kentucky GED program

    The GED program in the state of Kentucky has recently undergone some important changes for the benefit of the students working to complete the work and pass the test.  
    This new test was in place beginning in January 2014.  Some of those changes include:
    •The test now covers four areas, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies
    •The question forms vary from multiple choice to fill in the blank, drag and drop,  hot spots, short answer and extended responses.  

  • HCHS band participates in KMEA District Festival Assessment

    On Saturday, March 22, 20 students from the Harrison County High School Band participated in the KMEA District Solo and Ensemble Festival Assessment held at Twenhofel Middle School in Independence, Ky.
    Twenty-five events were performed by HCHS students including 11 solos, six duets, four trios, two quartets, one sextet and one seven-member percussion ensemble.
    All but one of these events received a distinguished rating from the KMEA adjudicators.
