    The Flower
    A flower,
    Sitting on a wooden table top,
    Full of color and joy.

    Slowly one by one the petals begin to fall,
    Slowly to the wooden table top.
    Each a withered husk of its former self.
    Each lost its color and joy.
    Each to be forever gone.
    Each falling until there was only one left.

    She stared down at her fallen friends.
    There is nothing she can do for them.
    Her colors have left her a long time ago.
    Now she is nothing but a fragile shell.

  • Academic briefs

    Allen L. Arthur, Berry, made the scholastic honor roll winter term which was  announced by Oregon State University.  
    A total of 837 students earned straight-A (4.0).  Another 3,562 earned a B-plus (3.5) or better to make the listing. To be on the Honor Roll, students must carry at least 12 graded hours of course work.
    Arthur is a sophomore agricultural sciences student.

  • LVC/MCTC adds simulation models to nursing program

    The Licking Valley Campus of Maysville Community and Technical College is using simulation models for instruction for nursing.  
    The Licking Valley Campus simulation models include an adult, a pediatric, an infant and a birthing simulator. The purchase of the simulation models was made possible by an educational grant from the Department of Labor.    
    Deborah J. Williams, MSN, RN, nursing program coordinator, commented that simulation technology is currently being integrated into most nursing programs across the country.

    THURSDAY: Blueberry muffins or cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice choices, choice of milk.
    FRIDAY: Sausage biscuit or cereal, yogurt, juice choices, choice of milk.

  • FBLA Wins Awards At State Conference
  • HCMS receives numerous awards at annual KUNA conference

    Harrison County Middle School 6th-8th grade students, along with advisors Jean Jones and Whitney Criswell,  attended the Kentucky United Nations Assembly in Louisville, Ky., March 24-26.
    This is one of the largest UN conferences in the country, and allows students to learn about other countries, cultures, and diplomacy in a hands-on way.  These students represented the countries of Belize and Spain in the model UN conference.

  • Authors visit Licking Valley MCTC classes

    The Licking Valley Campus of MCTC uses a variety of resources to enhance student learning. MCTC has a wide variety of teaching resources including textbooks, travel and technology. Two LVC instructors utilized resources on Wednesday, April 10 that would allow students the opportunity to hear from real world writers.
    Two contemporary authors visited  the campus each a guest in two separate classes: Eng. 234, Women’s Lit and  ENC 90/91, Writing Preparation.
