    Air Force Airman Megan L. Grose graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
    Grose completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
    Grose is the daughter of Leah Walker and Larry Grose, both of Cynthiana.

  • Ebenezer United Methodist to host KCTCS Super Sunday event

    Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) is sponsoring its annual Super Sunday event on Feb. 12 with the System Office and each of its 16 colleges partnering with African-American churches in their communities to host college information fairs for prospective college students and their families.
    Super Sunday is a statewide initiative intended to increase the college-going rate of students of color. The college fairs are free and open to everyone.

  • Lifetime achievement award presented to Harrison County native

    The Kentucky Association of School Administrators awarded Dr. Fred Williams a Lifetime Achievement Award for 54 years of work in public education. 
    Dr. Williams, only the second person to receive this award, was honored during a special recognition ceremony on Feb. 4 with more than         100 of the commonwealth’s top school leaders in attendance.

    Aaron Michael Williams has earned a place on the Fall 2011 Dean’s List with a 4.0 GPA at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky.
    Williams graduated as Salutatorian of Harrison County High School in 2009 and has been on the Dean’s List for all semesters at Bellarmine University. He also earned the award of “Top Attorney” in Mock Trial competitions every academic year.
    Williams is the son of Mike and Sherri Williams of Cynthiana, Ky. and the grandson of Kermit and Joan Bowen of Inez, Ky. and Bill and Lorna Williams of East Point, Ky.

    Lauren Ford is a P.E. major at Eastern Kentucky University, and has received the Outstanding College/University Physical Education Student of the Year award. She has been a Group Fitness Instructor for EKU’s Fitness and Wellness Center for four years, teach five to eight classes per week that include cycling, yoga, cardio, toning and Zumba. (AFAA Primary Group Fitness Certification, AFAA Yoga Workshop, and Zumba Certification).

    Edie Carson was named to the Dean’s List at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky.
    Placement on the Dean’s List is merited by achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or above. Carson earned a 4.0 grade point average for the Fall 2011 semester. She is enrolled in the Bachelor Science of Nursing program.
    Carson was also selected for Who’s Who in American Colleges.
    She is the daughter of Ottis and Carol Carson.
