    Cynthiana Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution member, Marilyn Kells, presented Shannon M. Patton with the DAR ROTC medal during awards night at Pendleton County High School held May 21.
    Patton is a member of the Pendleton County High School NJROTC program.

    Taylor Lee Gasser, daughter of Scott and Dawn Gasser, graduated as Valedictorian of her class at Madison Central High School in Richmond, Ky. She received a full scholarship to Morehead State University.
    Gasser is the granddaughter of Judy and Donnie Florence and the late David Gasser and Jim and Brenda Marcum of Richmond.

    Campbellsville University Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Frank Cheatham has announced the academic honors’ list for the spring 2011 semester.
    Joshua T. Ashbrook, a senior from Cynthiana, has been named to Campbellsville University’s Dean’s List for the spring 2011 semester.

    Courtney Purcell, daughter of Bud and Patty Purcell, graduated from Asbury University with honors on My 7. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.
    She will be teaching third grade at Deep Springs Elementary in Lexington in the fall.

    Luke Arthur, Kaitlin Himes and Margaret McCauley of Harrison County High School are the 2011 recipients of college scholarships from Farm Bureau.

    Philip Morris International Management SA (PMIM SA), a subsidiary of Philip Morris International Inc., is awarding an educational scholarship to Rachel Barnes of Berry. Barnes will attend Maysville Community and Technical College this fall and plans to study nursing. She is the daughter of Jeff and Connie Barnes of Berry.

    Katie LaCore Fryman, daughter of Suzanne LaCore of Georgetown and Rick Fryman of Cynthiana, was awarded a degree from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing during a pinning ceremony on May 6. Fryman graduated magna cum laude.
    The UK College of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, as well as two doctoral programs, the Doctor of Nursing Practice and Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing.
