    Gabrielle (Ellie) Fisher graduated May 14, from the Carol Martin Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science in Kentucky.
    Fisher attended The Gatton Academy as the first student from Harrison County.  While at the academy, students continue as members of the district they represent, Harrison County in this case, but the students attend classes at Western Kentucky University, living on campus during the school year.
    Classes are college level and the students accumulate the college credit to continue their college career.

  • Conservation Art and Writing Contest Winners

    Kentucky’s Soil: All Hands In! This was the topic for the 2010-2011 Conservation Writing and Jim Claypool Conservation Art Contest sponsored by the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation and Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts.
    This year every school in the county participated in the contests. There were 283 entries in the writing contest between the middle school and high school, and over 150 entries in the art contest from every elementary school.

  • Academic briefs

    Annastasia K. Hicks, a senior at Harrison County High School, is the recipient of a major scholarship to attend Heidelberg University.
    Hicks, the daughter of John and Tamera Hicks of Cynthiana, is the recipient of the Trustees Award of $13,000 a year for four years. The award was announced following Heidelberg’s annual scholarship competition in  February.
