  • Academic briefs

    Julianna Christine Margaret Leith, daughter of Tom and Anna Leith of Cynthiana, graduated with Latin Honors from University of Cincinnati on Saturday, April 26, 2014.  
    She was a 2013-14 recipient of a Menger Scholarship. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services, specializing in Signed Language Interpreting.  
    She is currently living in Independence and is employed as an educational interpreter by the Boone County Public School System.

  • MCTC/LVC to hold graduation celebration May 8

    The Licking Valley Campus of Maysville Community and Technical College will hold its annual graduation celebration and awards program on Thursday, May 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Prizing House in Cynthiana.  
    Each year this event recognizes all the MCTC/Licking Valley Campus graduates. There are 116 graduates of The Licking Valley Campus.
    During this evening, the honor awards will be presented as well. The graduates invite family members to join them for this evening’s activities that mark the end of the students’ tenure on the campus.

  • Elementary academic teams bring competition to the classroom

    Pencils are sharpened and scrap paper is in place. Two teams, outfitted with a broad array of facts, are ready for a battle of the minds.
    Harrison County’s four elementary school academic teams recently held the final matches of the 2013-14 season with a round robin championship tournament held at Eastside Elementary.
    Students at Northside, Eastside, Westside and Southside elementary schools have the opportunity to try out for the teams starting in third grade, however most members are in fourth or fifth.
