• Forty-two students graduate in MCTC/LVC nursing program

    After the years of following orders, taking homework assignments, shadowing experienced practitioners, the Nursing Class of 2014 took the reins in their hands and planned their Pinning Ceremony.
    This ceremony was filled with symbolic meaning that was both traditional and contemporary with room in the event for innovation as well.
    One of the innovative and impressive parts of the afternoon was the question, “Do I Make You Proud?”

  • FBLA wins awards at state conference

    On April 14-16, the Harrison County ATC Chapter attended the Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference at the Galt House in Louisville, Ky.  The chapter had 12 officers, advisers and members attending.  

  • Graves, Darnell perform in KMEA District 7 All-District Band

    After a three-month delay, the KMEA District 7 All-District Bands finally gave their performance on Saturday, May 3.  
    This clinic and concert was originally scheduled to occur in late January. However, due to the harsh winter and widespread snow, the event was postponed.  
    In addition to the change in date, there was also a change in venue, and a change in conductors.  

  • KCTCS to hold its spring graduation ceremony May 9 at Mason County High School

    The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) will honor more than 7,500 candidates, receiving more than 10,000 credentials, for graduation this spring in ceremonies across the state.
    In addition to the spring graduates, many KCTCS college commencement exercises will also recognize students who have graduated since the May 2013 commencement.
    Commencement ceremonies for 2014 will be held at Maysville Community and Technical College on Friday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mason County High School, 1320 US Hwy. 68, Maysville.

  • Local elementary schools receive art award

    The art program in Harrison County’s elementary schools has received an award funded by VSA Kentucky, a non-profit organization that provides opportunities in the arts for children and adults with disabilities.
    Elementary art teacher Beth Thompson received the $1,250 award and has been using it toward a project designed to include all students, regardless of disability. Her program is centered around an African ancestral theme.
