  • HCHS Speech team participates in KESDA State Tournament

    The Harrison County speech team had 17 students participate in the KESDA State Tournament Feb. 21-23: Jackson Sanders, Sarah Nichols, Anna Nichols, Josh Godman, Logan Willis, Erin Bradford, Lauren Shepard, Michaela Bowen, Wylie Caudill, Alycia Schaum, Kinsey King, Amber Schools, Amberlyn Schjoll, Jacob Sanders, Ross Smith, Marie Bowen and Jared Thomas.
    The team placed third in the state in squad efficiency and fifth overall.
    The following students had individual awards:

  • Reaching for the ‘Silver Screen’

    Jess Tincher doesn’t just want his name in lights. He wants to be the person who helps others have their names in lights. His eye is focused on a career to do just that.
    Tincher, a 2011 Nicholas County High School graduate, is currently working on his Associate of Arts at the MCTC-Licking Valley Campus.
    With this two-year degree, he will be able to transfer his earned credits to Eastern Kentucky University to achieve a degree in Film and Drama.

    Benjamin and Logan Baarlaer earned first honors for the second quarter at Covington Latin School.
    They are the sons of Joe and Melissa Baarlaer of Berry, Ky.

  • Band students participate in festival
  • MCTC-LVC student named KAACE Student of the Year

    Lois Martin, a freshman, attending college at MCTC- Licking Valley Campus, has been named the 2012 Kentucky Association for Adult and Continuing Education (KAACE) Student of the Year.
    Martin was selected from the 9,469 individuals who earned their General Educational Development (GED) Diploma in 2012. Her selection was based on achievement, commitment, and dedication to education.
