    Local students honored are:

    Mari Kaitlin Palmer of Sadieville, senior, Anderson County High School graduate majoring in Wildlife Management

    Adam T. Cunningham of Berry graduated from Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy during spring commencement. Cunningham earned a Doctor of Pharmacy.
    Cunningham is the son of Steve and Pam Cunningham, Berry.

  • LVC hosts reception for writing competition finalist

    The 2013 Finalist Reception for the fifth annual Licking River Writers Writing Competition took place at the Licking Valley Campus on Thursday, June 13.
    The winners of each individual contest will be announced and cash prizes awarded at the fifth annual LVC Writers Conference Gala to be held on Friday, Sept. 27.
    The evening began with a welcome by Sandy Power, interim director for financial aid, and opening words by Kristy Horine, contest coordinator.

    Mariam Naziripour, is a recent graduate of Marymount Manhattan College with a degree in Art History with emphasis in literature.
    She is the daughter of Susan Herrington Naziripour and Ali Naziripour and the granddaughter of Ed and Janice Herrington.
    During her senior year, she was a research assistant to a professor who is writing a book on American Literature.

    Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Health Sciences announces that Macy Gasser has been placed on the Dean’s List for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters.
    This honor recognizes achievement of a scholastic average of 3.50 or above on specified minimums of academic work.
    She is the daughter of Adam and Sheila Gasser of Cynthiana.

    Bellarmine University has named students to its dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester. The dean’s list recognizes students who receive a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale. The following local residents were named to the dean’s list:
    Cynthiana resident Aaron Williams, a senior who is majoring in political science, and previously attended Harrison County High School
    Sadieville resident Jessica Whelan, a sophomore who is majoring in biology, and previously attended Scott County Senior High School.

    Alex Cope of Sadieville has been named to the dean’s list for the winter/spring term at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.60 grade point average.
    Cope is the son of William and Sharleen Cope of Sadieville and is a graduate of Scott County High School.
    Centre College, founded in 1819, is a nationally ranked liberal arts college in Danville, Ky. Centre hosted its second Vice Presidential Debate on 10.11.12, and remains the smallest college in the smallest town ever to host a general election debate.
