    Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Health Sciences announces that Macy Gasser has been placed on the Dean’s List for the Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters.
    This honor recognizes achievement of a scholastic average of 3.50 or above on specified minimums of academic work.
    She is the daughter of Adam and Sheila Gasser of Cynthiana.

    Bellarmine University has named students to its dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester. The dean’s list recognizes students who receive a grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale. The following local residents were named to the dean’s list:
    Cynthiana resident Aaron Williams, a senior who is majoring in political science, and previously attended Harrison County High School
    Sadieville resident Jessica Whelan, a sophomore who is majoring in biology, and previously attended Scott County Senior High School.

    Alex Cope of Sadieville has been named to the dean’s list for the winter/spring term at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.60 grade point average.
    Cope is the son of William and Sharleen Cope of Sadieville and is a graduate of Scott County High School.
    Centre College, founded in 1819, is a nationally ranked liberal arts college in Danville, Ky. Centre hosted its second Vice Presidential Debate on 10.11.12, and remains the smallest college in the smallest town ever to host a general election debate.

    Bluegrass Community & Technical College has recognized the following students from Harrison County who have achieved Dean’s List honors for the 2013 Fall Semester.
    The college recognizes academic excellence by naming to the Dean’s List full-time students who have earned an overall semester grade point average of 3.5 or better in courses numbered 100 or above.

  • Gaunce receives promotion at MCTC

    Lori Gaunce promoted to registrar for Maysville Community and Technical College after 20 years of service to the Licking Valley Campus.
    Gaunce began employment as an office assistant in the fall of 1993 and was the second person hired at the Licking Valley Campus.  
    Prior to being hired to MCTC, Gaunce worked in the admissions office at Lexington Community College for three years.  
    Given her 22 years of service to the community and technical college system, she has gained the knowledge and leadership this position requires.

  • Career Craze Summer Camp offered to middle school students

    The first Career Craze Summer Camp will be offered for middle school students ages 12-15 grades sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth at the Licking Valley Campus Extension of Maysville Community and Technical College.  
    Career Craze will be held July 29-Aug. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The camp is free.  
    During day one of Career Craze, students will learn CPR, Heimlich and other first aid techniques.
    Students will also be given an ambulance tour.  
    During day 2, students will be exploring pharmacy and dentistry.

    Ronette Jones has achieved the honor of being named to the Honor Roll at Kentucky Christian University for the 2013 Spring semester. The Honor Roll is granted to full-time students who earn a grade point average of 3.3 to 3.74.
    Jones is the child of Paul Ralph Jones and Paulette Jones, both of Cynthiana, and is a 2010 graduate of Jones Home School and majors in worship and Bible at KCU.

    Olivia Mae Faulkner graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry on May 5, 2013 with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
    Faulkner is a 2009 graduate of Western Kentucky University and a 2005 Harrison County High School graduate.  She is the daughter of Dr. Bill and Jackie Faulkner of Cynthiana. She will be practicing in New Bern, N.C.
