    SANDERS
    The Western Kentucky University forensics team traveled Oxford, Ohio, to take part in a tournament the weekend of Sept. 28-29.
    Jackson Sanders, a freshman from Cynthiana, earned a fourth in after-dinner speaking and fourth in dramatic interpretation.

  • Leadership Development class to be offered Oct. 8-Nov. 26 at LVC Extension

    A Leadership Development class will be held on Tuesdays, Oct. 8 through Nov. 26 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Licking Valley Campus Extension.  
    Michael Tally, instructor, will provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and potential. Students will earn three credit hours for this class.

    The Western Kentucky University forensics team kicked off its competitive season by co-hosting the Forensics Fiesta with Miami University on WKU’s campus the weekend of Sept. 20-22.  
    Jackson Sanders, a freshman from Cynthiana, finished fifth in dramatic interpretation and sixth in after-dinner speaking at the WKU tournament.

  • School board approves support funding for high school AP program

    The Harrison County School Board approved a request for $10,000 in support funding for the high school advanced placement program to replace losses that came as a result of the expiration of 3-year AP grant.

    HATFIELD
    In honor of her Excellence in Teaching award, Dr. Jennifer Hatfield, assistant professor of wellness, was a featured speaker during the Union College Fall Convocation on Thursday Sept. 5.
    The award, determined through a faculty vote, is presented each May during commencement.
    Hatfield, a Rose Hill, Va., native who now lives in Corbin, offered students three basic pieces of advice for their educational journeys: play often, work hard and trust God.
