  • LVC basketball team to play Friday at City Hall

    Basketball has been one answer this winter to the need for a student activity schedule for Licking Valley Campus students.
    Tracy Stamper and Trina Shields collaborated with officials at City Hall and worked hard to encourage participation. The opportunity is open for men and women students, staff members and faculty.
    Five sessions are on the schedule for this winter’s game times and practices.
    The first intramural game was Feb. 7. Others are planned for Feb. 21, March 14 and March 21.

  • Graves participates in All-State Symphonic Band

    On Saturday, Feb. 8, the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) wrapped up its annual conference with performances given by the All-State Bands and Orchestras.  
    Harrison County High School senior Luke Graves participated in the performance of the All-State Symphonic Band, the state’s top student ensemble.  

  • HCHS speech team takes second in regional competition

    The Harrison County High School speech team came away from regional competition with a second place finish on Feb. 8.
    Four members of the team also finished No. 1 in the region in their respective events.
    Bringing home first place finishes were Lauren Shepard in broadcasting, Jared Thomas, extemporaneous speaking, Ross Smith, declamation, and Jacob Sanders, original oratory.

  • Academic briefs

    Western Kentucky University forensics team members traveled to Ypsilanti, Mich., to take part in two tournaments the weekend of Feb. 1-2.
    WKU won the team sweepstakes championships for both tournaments hosted by Eastern Michigan University. Additionally, all members of the WKU team at EMU advanced to final round.
