  • MCTC/LVC to participate in NAMI Walks on Oct. 10

    NAMI On Campus is an organization whose mission to bring mental health awareness to Maysville Community & Technical College and the community.
    NAMI on Campus MCTC/Licking Valley Campus was started a year ago by Melinda Walker, MCTC/LVC Assistant Professor of Psychology. It was the first community college NAMI On Campus group to be formed in Kentucky.
    The NAMI On Campus MCTC/Licking Valley Campus student organization is participating in NAMI Walks 2015 at Masterson Station Park in Lexington on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. (Registration is at 10 a.m.).

  • National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week is Sept. 21-26

    Sept. 21-26, 2015 is being recognized as National Adult Education and Family Literacy week. In addition to this national celebration, Harrison County’s adult education center has plans of its own. During a signing ceremony on Sept. 11, County Judge-Executive Alex Barnett proclaimed this week “Harrison County Adult Education Week”.

  • Art and writing entries sought for student conservation contests

    Students and teachers looking for a creative classroom project this fall will find the perfect blend fun and educational materials in the annual Conservation Writing and Art Contests, sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Association of Conservation Districts. This contest encourages Kentucky’s finest young writers and artists to create and submit short essays and artistic entries that promote best practices for wildlife conservation efforts across the state.

  • MCTC/Licking Valley Campus offers hands on nursing skills

    One of the advantages of attending the Registered Nursing program at the MCTC/Licking Valley Campus is encountering active learning in a state of the art simulation lab. The lab provides students the opportunity to learn nursing skills in a hands on safe environment.

  • Six receive First Chance Scholarships

    The First Chance Scholarship Committee, a local organization dedicated to giving area students education opportunities, has announced the fall 2015 recipients.  
    This semester there were six recipients. Each candidate is required to fill out an application and go through an interview.  
    The fall term  recipients are  Rebecca Simpson, Austin Short, Jacob Patrick Wolfe, Seth Taylor Fisher, Alisha Bledsoe and Chris Woolums.
    In order to apply, students submit the detailed application, a recent photograph and write an essay.
