  • National FFA scholarship awarded to local student

    The National FFA Organization awarded a $1,000 Tractor Supply - Growing Scholars scholarship to Kelsey Lainhart of the Harrison County High School-FFA. The scholarship is sponsored by Tractor Supply - Growing Scholars as a special project of the National FFA Foundation. Lainhart plans to use the funds to pursue a degree at Eastern Kentucky University (KY).
    The scholarship is one of 1,786 awarded through the National FFA Organization’s scholarship program this year.

  • Academic briefs

    Western Kentucky University’s Jackson Sanders, a sophomore from Cynthiana, was tournament champion in persuasive speaking and sixth in dramatic interpretation at the Bowling Green State University tournament the weekend of Nov. 15-16. He was also tournament champion in individual sweepstakes, tournament champion in communication analysis, tournament champion in persuasive speaking, tournament champion in dramatic interpretation and fifth in impromptu speaking at the Firelands tournament.
    Sanders is the son of Jay and Laura Sanders of Cynthiana.

  • Veterans' Day at Southside

    Honoring Veterans’ Day was held at Southside Elementary on Nov. 10. Lonny Love, veteran of the U.S. Army, visited Southside to share his personal experiences in combat. Students got to see medals, uniforms, food, etc. Corbin Crump, first grade student in Mrs. Free’s classroom, was able to help Love demonstrate how to properly apply camouflage make-up he used during his service. Students also were able to see military life from his personal experiences.

  • Tally chose MCTC/LVC to teach and be close to home

    Michael Tally, an instructor at MCTC/Licking Valley Campus, teaches business, communications and general education classes.

    Tally, originally from Erlanger,  graduated from St. Henry’s High School. He gained vocational expertise with his studies in woodworking, small engine repair and welding.
