  • HMH offers Community Education Assistance program

    The Community Education Assistance program awards tuition loans to area students to encourage them to enter the healthcare profession and return to Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) as licensed graduate professionals. HMH is seeking individuals who are interested in the following programs:
    •Respiratory Therapy, Associates and Bachelors Degrees.
    •Laboratory, Associates and Bachelors Degrees -- MT or MLT.

  • Koch recognized as Grassroots champion

    The American Hospital Association (AHA), in partnership with the Kentucky Hospital Association awarded Joe Koch, CEO, Bourbon Community Hospital with the American Hospital Association Grassroots Champions Award.  
    As a 2014 Grassroots Champion, Koch is recognized for his exceptional leadership in generating grassroots and community activity in support of a hospital’s mission.

  • HMH radiology receives ACR reaccreditation in the nuclear medicine program

    The HMH radiology department received reaccreditation  by the American College of Radiology in the nuclear medicine services for 2014. HMH first received accreditation in these modalities in 2008. The nuclear medicine program is accredited for both the general and cardiology aspects of nuclear medicine.

  • HMH receives Kentucky Hospital Association Quality award

    Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) was recognized and honored with the 2014 Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) Quality Award. The award is presented to recognize hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety and commitment in patient care. The facility received the award at the annual awards luncheon held during the 85th KHA Convention on May 9.

  • Furnish blazes new trail in liquid nicotine production

    Brian Furnish, a Harrison County tobacco farmer and entrepreneur, was announced last week as a partner in USA Liquid Nicotine, LLC, the first American company to produce liquid nicotine for the fast growing e-cigarette market.
    The company announced that it is producing liquid nicotine on a commercial scale early last week.

  • Beware of utility scam affecting BGE members

    A prepaid debit card scam is currently circulating our area targeting members of Blue Grass Energy.
    “The perpetrator calls members posing as an employee of Blue Gras Energy. They inform the member they are late on their electric bill, and their service will be disconnected if not paid immediately. The caller instructs the member to purchase a prepaid debit card then call back providing the numbers from the card to pay the bill. Once the caller has this information, they are untraceable and have access to the money,” said Denise Myers, Energy Solutions Manager.

  • DCBS honors Aubreys for their service

    Several area families, including Sarah and Chester Aubrey of Cynthiana, were recently honored for their service as adoptive and foster parents to some of the state’s most vulnerable children.
    The Kentucky Department of Community Based Services (DCBS) and the University of Kentucky’s College of Social Work presented the awards to the Northern Bluegrass Region families at a reception last month.
