VanHook, Honaker recognized for outstanding popcorn sales

Sam VanHook and Cory Honaker, both of Cynthiana, received awards from the Bluegrass Council of the Boy Scouts of America on Feb. 18, for outstanding popcorn sales in the 2012 fundraising season.
Both boys are members of Cub Scout Pack 50, in Carlisle.
VanHook received a trophy and $150 for being the top popcorn salesman in the Council with $10,388 in total sales.
He also placed first in the state and third in the nation, according to the popcorn company, Campmasters.

Dress in Blue Day

The Kentucky Cancer Program (KCP) is encouraging everyone to Dress in Blue on Friday, March 1 or at special events throughout the month as part of the fifth annual nationwide campaign to promote lifesaving colon cancer screening.
Madeline Abramson, Kentucky Lieutenant Governor’s wife, will serve as the Dress in Blue Day Honorary Chair for Kentucky.

Cynthiana graduate releases new album

Lexington, Ky. rock band Fifth on the Floor has recently signed with Black Country Rock/Entertainment One (eOne) Music and will be releasing its third full-length album Ashes & Angels nationally on March 12, 2013.
Country music star and eOne label-mate Shooter Jennings produced the album in early 2012.
The album was recorded at DeadBird Studios in Louisville, and mixed at NitroSonic Studios in Lexington.

HMH awarded Best Places to Work in Kentucky for third consecutive year

Harrison Memorial Hospital (HMH) was recently named as one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky 2013. The awards program was created in 2005 and is a project of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management (KYSHRM) and Best Companies Group.
