  • Doyle attends insurance seminar

    Randy D. Doyle, Cynthiana, a Modern Woodmen of America representative, has completed a five-day educational program at Modern Woodmen’s home office in Rock Island, Ill.
    The program focused on helping families with Modern Woodmen life insurance plans, annuities and fraternal member benefits.

  • Kentucky Bank parent announces dividend

    Kentucky Bancshares, Inc., parent holding company for Kentucky Bank, announced today the quarterly dividend to shareholders.  The payout will be 23 cents per share, up from 22 cents for the previous quarter.  This payment will be made March 30 to shareholders of record March 20, 2012.

  • Anderson inducted into the Kentucky Transportation Hall of Fame

    Patsy Pratt Anderson was recently inducted into the Kentucky Transportation Hall of Fame administered by the University of Kentucky Transportation Center. She is the first woman to receive this honor, which recognizes individuals who by their foresight, dedication, leadership, perseverance, and integrity have significantly enhanced transportation systems in the Commonwealth.

    The Better Business Bureau investigates thousands of scams every year.
    A new scam source (www.bbb.org/scam) is a comprehensive resource on scam investigations from BBBs around the country, with tips from BBB, law enforcement and others.
    The public can sign up to receive scam alerts by email, or can be a scam detective by reporting scams in your area.

  • Nominations needed for Chamber Awards Banquet, location changed

    The Cynthiana-Harrison County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for recipients for the 42nd Awards Banquet.
    The banquet will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Harrison County Extension Office.
    To nominate an individual for a specific category, a brief resume of accomplishments and letter stating why they are deserving of the award (no longer than a page and a half) should be sent or dropped off to the Chamber of Commerce building.
    Winners and their families from each category will be present to accept awards. Categories include;
